From BCA to TCS: Satyaki Das's Journey and What It Teaches Every Student
The story of Satyaki Das — Classroom Tech founder, TCS engineer, MTech from Jadavpur University — and what his journey teaches BCA, B.Tech, MCA students about building a career in tech.
Behind Classroom Tech is a story worth understanding — not because it's remarkable in an overnight-success way, but because it's remarkably relatable to the students it serves.
The Beginning: BCA from Techno Main, Salt Lake
Satyaki Das started with a BCA from Techno Main, Salt Lake, Kolkata. Not an IIT. Not an NIT. A Kolkata college that thousands of similar students attend each year, wondering whether their degree will be enough.
The answer he would find: the degree was the ticket in. The skills he built were the career.
The Education Path: BCA → MCA → MTech
Satyaki continued to MCA (Master of Computer Applications) from Techno Main, and then pursued an MTech in Computer Engineering from Jadavpur University — one of West Bengal's most respected engineering institutions.
This path — BCA → MCA → MTech — is one that many students overlook. It doesn't require JEE. It doesn't require an IIT brand. And when paired with real skills, it opens the same doors.
The Professional Track: TCS and Real-World Engineering
While building Classroom Tech, Satyaki also built his own career as a software engineer. He joined Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as a Java Full Stack Developer, working on enterprise-level applications involving:
- Spring Boot backend development
- React.js and JavaScript frontend
- SAML-based SSO authentication and enterprise security
- Agile sprint-based development
- SQL reporting and data dashboards
- Multilingual platform Arabization for global users
He also:
- Qualified GATE — India's most competitive postgraduate engineering exam
- Ranked 848 in TCS Codevita — a global coding competition with hundreds of thousands of participants
The Teaching Mission: 11 Years of Classroom Tech
In August 2015, Satyaki founded Classroom Tech — initially as a local teaching practice in Kolkata, growing into an online platform serving students across India.
For 11 years, through live classes, coding contests (Code2Crack), mock interviews, and curriculum development, he has trained students in:
- C, Java, Python, C++ programming
- Data Structures and Algorithms
- Web Development (React, Spring Boot)
- Database Management Systems
- Competitive coding and placement preparation
The placement track record: TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, EY, Deloitte, Capgemini — companies that represent the backbone of India's IT industry.
XShare: The Next Chapter
In August 2025, Satyaki co-founded XShare — a student-focused career and opportunity platform designed to help engineering students discover jobs, internships, hackathons, and competitions in one place. It's a natural extension of the Classroom Tech mission: bridging students with real opportunities.
What His Journey Teaches Students
Lesson 1: The degree is the ticket, not the destination.
BCA, MCA, MTech — these opened doors. What got him through those doors was Java, Python, DSA, and real projects.
Lesson 2: You can build while employed.
Classroom Tech was built alongside a full-time TCS job. Most excuses for not upskilling collapse when you see this.
Lesson 3: Teaching sharpens you.
Explaining complex topics clearly to students forced Satyaki to understand them deeply. The students he taught became better engineers; so did he.
Lesson 4: Kolkata is not a limitation.
Geography is not destiny. With the right skills, Kolkata-based students compete for the same roles as any IIT graduate — and win.
Lesson 5: Consistency over 11 years compounds.
11 years of teaching. 11,000+ LinkedIn followers. Hundreds of placed students. None of it happened overnight.
